Sean Sparkman

Financial Advisor

Above all else, Sean seeks to be of service to his clients by taking the mystery out of retirement planning. During his consultations, which are conducted via phone or virtually, Sean answers your questions in a simple, personalized, no-nonsense way.  He is based in Michigan, but serves clients throughout the United States. Sean has partnered with his father, Rick Sparkman, to offer insurance and retirement solutions.

A follower of Christ and an entrepreneur at heart, Sean’s favorite bible verse is Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Sean believes that this verse encapsulates the very best of humanity, and that our ability to serve each other to the best of our ability is what creates strong relationships and fulfillment. Every individual must find their own path of service, and helping people with retirement planning is his.

Retirement planning has become more confusing than ever. With the overload of financial news, social media, emails, and phone calls that people receive on a daily basis it is very hard to know who to listen to and what is right for your situation. For most people, it is so overwhelming that they’d rather bury their head in the sand and say “Forget it. I’ll stay right where I am” then face the complexities of retirement planning. Sean knows that the world is very different than it has been in the past 20-30 years, and it is more important than ever to educate yourself and make moves to secure your retirement sooner rather than later. Sean and Rick seek first to educate everyone they talk with; they work hard to make financial planning simple, easy to understand and straightforward. The way it should be.

Another important part of Sean’s life is the practice and discipline of martial arts. Sean sought the mental, spiritual and physical aspects of the discipline at age 20 as a way to refine himself from the boy he was to the man he needed to be. He has earned his black belt in Ashihara Karate, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and actively trains in a myriad of martial arts. Karate is a way of life, and it has been instilled into his very being. Karate stands for the “the way of the empty hand”, emphasis on “the way”. The way is a path, and on this path you have a guide or “sensei”, which simply means “the one who came before”. Sean practices “the way” to build his physical, mental and spiritual strength which allows him to stand firm and fight for his family, his friends, and his clients. It allows him to serve more effectively, and to be a guide to others.

Sean and his wife Alyse are the proud parents of two boys, and he enjoys spending time together with his family. In addition to training in the martial arts, Sean enjoys fishing, rock climbing, biking, and snow skiing.
